Want to know Jesus?

Who is Jesus, really? People have speculated about Him for centuries, but Christians hold one truth as certain: Jesus is the Son of God. Yes, He was a great teacher and an outstanding moral example. Yet Christians believe the only path to a relationship with God is through His one and only Son, Jesus. He performed many miracles during His time on earth, but here is the most important thing to understand about Him:

 

 

 

1. Jesus, the sinless Son of God, came to earth as a man. He was fully God and fully human at the same time.

2. Jesus came on a mission: to die for the sins of humanity. The Bible tells us that everyone has sinned and falls short of God’s glory. (Romans 3:23)

3. Because everyone falls short of God’s holy standard, the Bible says your sin must be paid for. Jesus died so you would not have to pay for your own sins—He paid for them through His death on the cross. The Bible says the wages of sin is death, but God’s gift is eternal life through Jesus. (Romans 6:23) Salvation is a gift from God, not something you earn. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

4. The only way to receive this free gift of salvation is to welcome God’s Son, Jesus, into your heart and life. His death on the cross opened the way for you to have a relationship with God. The Bible says everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10,13)

Starting a relationship with God begins with prayer—simply talking and listening to Him. You can pray something like the prayer below, but understand this: there is nothing magical about the words themselves. What matters is the sincerity of your heart, not the exact wording. You can use your own words, but it might sound something like this:

 

Dear God, I come to you now, acknowledging to you that I am a sinner. There is nothing I can do on my own to have a relationship with you or have eternal life. I confess to you that Jesus is the Son of God. He is perfect in every way. He died on a cross for my sins, and now, after His resurrection 3 days later, sits on His throne in heaven. I invite Jesus into my life to become my Lord and my Savior of my soul, as well as my daily guide. I trust Jesus with my very life, as He has given His life for me. Thank you Jesus for dying for me and saving me. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
