Hello! I am Pastor Mike Swingle. My wife Lisa and my daughter came to Harbor Oaks church in 2017. The church “under the oaks” has been a fixture in Port Orange since 1975. We love the Port Orange area, as my wife and I are both “locals” who were born here.
So, if I had to answer the question “what is one thing I should know about the Harbor Oaks church?”, it would be this: FBC Harbor Oaks is a place where Jesus is proclaimed, family is prioritized, and service is our kingdom mindset. We love Jesus, and seek to make Him known to our community and beyond. We treat everyone like family, and we serve others because that is what Kingdom citizens do. We invite you to be our guest at Harbor Oaks church. Come see what God is doing!
What we
What we
believe...
believe...
God | There is only one living and true God. He is all-knowing, all-powerful and everywhere. He reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Isaiah 45:5; Isaiah 57:15; 1 John 4:9 |
Father | As Father, He provides, loves, disciplines and freely offers grace to us through faith in Jesus Christ. Psalm 19:1-3; John 4:24; Ephesians 4:6 |
Son | Jesus Christ is the perfect representation of the Father in human form, both fully human and fully divine. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. In death, He was the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people. He rose from the dead after three days and, a short time later, ascended to Heaven where He reigns. He will return one day and, in the meantime, lives in the lives of all Christians. Mark 1:1; John 1:1-18; John 1:29; Romans 1:3-4; Romans 3:23-26; 1 Peter 3:22 |
Holy Spirit | He lives within each Christian to inspire, guide, convict of sin and give abilities and spiritual gifts for carrying out the work of the church. John 14:16-17; John 4:26; Acts 1:8; Acts 4:31 |
Man | Man is the special creation of God, in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. … The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore every person of every race possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love. Genesis 1:26-28; Romans 5:6; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-22 |
Salvation | God reconciling humanity to Himself. The solution to overcoming the death penalty of sin is to acknowledge the need for God, turn from sin, believe that Christ is Savior and publicly confess Jesus as Lord. There is no other way to mend your relationship with God. Once salvation occurs, it can never be taken away or lost. Romans 5:8-10; Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 1:7; Ephesians 2:8-22; 1 John 1:6-2:11 |
Baptism | An outward expression of an inward change and commitment that has occurred in the life of a believer. Baptism pictures Christ's death and resurrection through immersion into water. It is not a means of salvation. Matthew 3:13-17; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; Acts 8:35-39; |
The Lord’s Supper | A symbolic remembrance of Christ's sacrifice. The bread and cup represent the body and blood of Christ. Those who have accepted Christ as Savior and Lord participate in the Lord's Supper during periodic observances. Matthew 26:26-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 |
Church | A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its scriptural officers are pastors and deacons. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture. Acts 2:41-42; Acts 2:47; Acts 6:3-6; Acts 13:1-3; Acts 14:23; Acts 14:27; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Colossians 1:18 |
May we introduce you to
Jesus?
The most important decision you will ever make is centered around the person of Jesus. We believe that everyone needs to truly know Jesus in order to be saved.
Here’s what that looks like:
God loves you. (John 3:16) Yes, He really does! He sent His Son to earth, who walked this earth as a sinless man, with the purpose of dying on a cross for our sins. God’s love for us is why Jesus did what He did. He proved He loved us by dying for our sin.
Jesus died for you. (I Corinthians 15:3-4) Jesus died for all mankind, and that means He died for you, to pay the sin debt that you owe that you cannot pay. His death on the cross granted us forgiveness for our sin, if we will accept it.
Salvation is available to you. (Romans 10:9) God desires to save you. it is available to all who come to Him, confess Him as Savior and Lord, and call upon His name (Romans 10:13) Jesus loves you so much!
Will you pray to receive Jesus today? Pray this prayer:
God, I know that I am a sinner in need of your grace. I have messed up, and I want You to forgive me. I believe that You sent Your Son, Jesus, to live a perfect life that I could not live. I believe He died on the cross, was buried and rose again so that I can be forgiven. God, forgive me, save me, come live in my heart and be the King of my life. Amen.
Who are you praying for to know Jesus? Watch this video, find your one, and commit to bringing them to Jesus!

What is the F260 and Who Should Use It?
The F-260 is a two hundred and sixty-day reading plan that highlights the foundational passages of Scripture that every disciple should know. The plan is designed to be a manageable plan for believers who have never read the Bible before.
How Does It Work?
The plan expects believers to read 1 or 2 chapters a day for 5 days each week, with an allowance for weekends off. The 2 off-days a week are built-in so you may catch up on days where you’re unable to read In order to digest more of the Word.
Memorizing the Word
While many plans for memorizing Scripture are effective, this simple system has been effective for me. All you need is a pack of index cards and a committed desire to memorize God’s Word. It’s easy: write the reference of the verse on one side of the card and the text of the verse on the other. Focus on five verses at a time, and carry your pack of Scripture cards with you.
Throughout the day, whenever you have a few minutes, pull out your pack of Scripture cards and review them. Read the reference first, followed by the verse. Continue to recite the verse until you get a feel for the flow of the passage. When you are comfortable with the text, look only at the reference side of the card in order to test your recall.
